The Bhatt family has been in the film industry for several generations. Alia Bhatt is the daughter of film director Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan. She wants to wear a designer dress to her wedding. Kavya's father has enough money, but doesn't want to buy her expensive dress. Determined to earn money, Kavya goes to her uncle in Delhi to earn some money. There she meets Humpty Sharma, who falls in love with her and wants to marry her. Together they convince Kavya's father that Humpty would be a better man for his daughter. It is a tribute film to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge that has been in theaters since 1995.
