Most expats and Qataris send their children to international schools. There are many international schools offering UK, American, Canadian, Indian and IB curricula to choose from. The language of instruction in most of the Doha International Schools is English. Arabic and other language courses are offered.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

The IB program will be offered through a number of international schools in Doha including Qatar Academy, Doha British School, International School of London, Qatar Academy, Qatar Leadership Academy, The American School of Doha, Al Jazeera Academy and the Golf English School . It is learned under the supervision of the International Baccalaureate Organization. All students study languages, social sciences, experimental science, math, and the arts.

The IB is divided into three programs covering the following age ranges:

  1. Primary Years Program (PYP) ages 3-12
  2. Middle Years Program (MYP) ages 11 to 16
  3. Diploma program (DP) aged 16-1

Studies application in international schools in Qatar

To apply for an international school in Doha you will be asked to gift:

  • Latest school report
  • Copy of the kindergarten report (for younger children)
  • Copy of the passport
  • Copy of Qatar residence permit
  • Passport photos
  • Vaccination certificate (for younger children)
  • Registration fee

Students can also take a cognitive skills test (online) and / or take part in assessments (online or in person). The ideal time to apply for schools is January if you enroll like your child in September. However, waiting lists for some schools can be up to 24 months.

You can pay a deposit when your child enrolls in an international school in Doha, up to QR 10,000. Tuition of 5,000 QR annually at Doha College 10,680 QR per semester at the Doha-English speaking school varies by school.
