The satellite's 72 transponders are used by three satellite operators as follows:

  1. under the name of Astra 4A of SES Astra - 33 transponders
  2. under the name of AMC 12 of SES Americom - 21 transponders
  3. under the name of Star One C-12 of Star One - 18 transponders

AMC-12 was launched into space in 2005 from the Baikonur spaceport in Kazakhstan. The satellite has several Skyplex units.
