You can still use your Hotmail account

Add your other email accounts to Outlook.com

When you add other email accounts to Outlook.com, you can use Outlook.com to send and read email messages from those accounts without leaving Outlook.com. Each account that you add to Outlook.com is called a "connected account".

Important: Microsoft is removing the ability to connect new accounts to Outlook.com on May 10, 2021.

  • Accounts that were connected before May 10, 2021 will continue to sync as normal.

  • If you want to see all of your email accounts, calendars, and contacts in one combined inbox, download Outlook for iOS or Outlook for Android.

Important information about syncing connected accounts

If you'd like to create another email address that uses the same Inbox, Sent, Items, and Contacts lists as your existing Outlook.com account, see how to create an email alias.

If you want a whole fresh start, sign out of Outlook.com, and then create a new account.

Connect a Gmail account to Outlook.com

Important:

  • Microsoft is removing the ability to connect new accounts to Outlook.com on May 10, 2021.

  • Accounts that were connected before May 10, 2021 will continue to sync as normal.

  1. In Outlook.com, go to Settings > Show all Outlook settings > Synchronize email.

  2. Choose under Linked accounts the option Gmail out.

  3. Enter on the side Connect your Google account Enter a friendly name for your Gmail account. This is the name that recipients see when they receive an email message from you. Choose OK out.

  4. Select the Gmail account you want to use. You may need to enter a username and password for your Gmail account.

Note: If you've turned on two-step verification for the connected account, you'll need to create an app password for that account. Go to the Gmail account security information page to create the app password, then go to Outlook.com to find the password on the page Connect your Google account to enter. You can find more information about Google's two-step verification here.

  5. Choose Allow out.

Hints:

  • Syncing your connected account with your Outlook.com account is only one-way. Emails sent from your connected account using Outlook.com will not appear as sent items in your connected account.

  • If you delete, move, or read an email from a connected account in Outlook.com, you won't see those changes when you switch to your connected account.

  • For example, emails sent from your Gmail account with Outlook.com will not appear in your gmail sent items, and Gmail messages deleted in Outlook.com will not be removed from your Gmail inbox.

  • Information on how Microsoft processes your data can be found in Microsoft's privacy policy.

  • The use and transfer of information sent by Google Accounts from the Microsoft application to other apps is consistent with the Google API Services user data policy, including the requirements for restricted use.

Connect other email accounts to Outlook.com

Important:

  • Microsoft is removing the ability to connect new accounts to Outlook.com on May 10, 2021.

  • Accounts that were connected before May 10, 2021 will continue to sync as normal.

Follow these steps to connect a Yahoo Mail, AOL, or other email account to Outlook.com.

  1. ChooseSettings > Show all Outlook settings > Synchronize email.

  2. Choose under Linked accounts the option Other email accounts out.

  3. Enter on the side Connect your account Enter a friendly name (the name recipients see when they receive email messages from you), full email address, and password for the email account that you used with your Outlook.com account want to connect.

    Hints:

    • If you've turned on two-step verification for the connected account, you'll need to create an app password for that account. Go to your provider's account security information page to create the app password, and then return to Outlook.com to find the password on the page Connect your account to enter.

    • The two-step verification makes it harder for others to sign into your email account. It uses two different forms of identity: your password and a contact method, e.g. B. a PIN or a security code. Your email provider's website should have information on setting up two-step verification.

  4. Choose OK out.

Hints:

  • Syncing your connected account with your Outlook.com account is only one-way. Emails sent from your connected account using Outlook.com will not appear as sent items in your connected account.
