Who was Theudas in the Bible

The Council of Gamaliel

34And a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a scribe who was honored by all the people, arose in the council, and had the men carried out for a short time.

35And he said to them, Men of Israel, see carefully what you will do with these people.

36For some time ago Theudas got up and pretended he was something, and there were a number of men attached to him, about four hundred. He was slain and all who followed him were scattered and destroyed.

37After this, in the days of the census, Judas of the Galileans rose up and brought up a crowd behind him; and he perished too, and all who followed him were scattered.

38And now I say to you, leave these people behind and let them go. If this plan or work is done by men, it will perish;

39 But if it is from God, you cannot destroy them - so that you do not appear as those who want to fight against God.

So they agreed with him

40And called in the apostles, had them scourged, and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

41They left the council cheerfully, because they were worthy to be disgraced for His name's sake.

42And they did not cease teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ every day in the temple and here and there in the houses.
