Welcome to Germany / Welcome to Germany!

Note: With the fourth Civil Protection Act of March 29, 2021 (Federal Law Gazette I p. 370), the Federal Government was authorized in Section 36 (8) sentence 1 number 1 of the Infection Protection Act for persons who want to enter or have entered the Federal Republic of Germany and for whom the There is a possibility that they were exposed to an increased risk of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, to regulate a separation obligation. The new coronavirus entry regulation made use of this option of regulating entry quarantine on a nationwide basis. The quarantine requirement is initially limited to June 30, 2021.

  • If you have stayed in a risk area, you must go home immediately after arrival - or other accommodation at the destination - and isolate yourself for ten days (domestic quarantine). In the case of a previous stay in a virus variant area, the separation period is fourteen days.
  • During the quarantine, it is not allowed to leave the house or apartment and receive visitors. Do not forget: This measure is to protect your family, neighbors and everyone else around you. Violations of the quarantine rules can be punished with fines!
  • The home quarantine can be ended prematurely if proof of recovery, a vaccination certificate or a negative test certificate is sent to the competent authority. In the case of a previous stay in a high-incidence area, the underlying test must not have been carried out until five days after entry into the country at the earliest. After having previously stayed in a virus variant area, there is no possibility of shortening the separation period.
